As delivered, the pump I received was in no way a direct fit. I had to change out the brass fittings & hoses and come straight off the pump with a new fitting (I had to purchase locally). Once back in the lamp, even wide open it will not fill the reservoir - with new oil I might add. My lamp is several inches shorter than that recommended for this pump. I emailed the company 3 separate times and never received a response back. Stuck with a $60 waste of money. Do not recommend, and will not do business with this site again. Terrible customer service.
My grandmother passed away. She had this grist mill rain oil lamp that my mom bought her when my mom was 16. This was in her home. It fell into disrepair. The oil rotted the metal finish abd seized the pump. I restored it for her. Sanding and repainting every single piece with oil resistant paint. I rewired it to add a color changing bulb. The water wheel didn't turn well, so I put a plastic spacer under the opposite side of the house to make it lean unnoticeably. That made the wheel spin freely. I added her favorites like daisies and cardinals, mini cars that my grandmother owned, and fall trees for my mom's favorite season. I went through 4 pumps and countless trips to Lowe's. It's so funny how 3/8 comes in do many threads, recesses, and varying sizes. I literally cried from frustration at how every pump I built failed. Swedenmom answered my questions quickly. The item had the hoses attached super snugly, saving me the effort to do it. The pump was the perfect gpm. The hoses were cut to identically needed proportions too. A splitter was included and EASILY installed with the added tubing for my model.
Actually, Swedenmom was so sweet and knowledgeable to suggest this. I cried so much out of frustration. I should have just bought this and finished the project weeks ago. Now, I didn't need any tools but scissors, electrical tape, wire cutters, wire strippers, and pliers. That's all. The provided wiring is simple. I am not good with wires and I did it simply. I added little 1/2" spacers on the edge between the oil base bowl and the metal pan with the drain holes to add extra room for the filter to fit in my model. Buy this, bring the lamp back to life, save your time. It's precut. Super simple. Great seller. I even got a cute thank you sticker on my package. What a sweet gesture of appreciation.
